I had endured severe knee pain for several years, as ageing joints suffered from bone loss and arthritis crept in. I visited several physiotherapists while away from Vancouver but nothing seemed to really help. After we returned to Vancouver I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Brennan’s clinic. Brennan is like no other therapist I’ve worked with – he didn’t just look at my knees in isolation, he looked at my whole muscular-skeletal system. He discovered quite quickly that my alignment was favouring the use of shoulder muscles to compensate for an old knee injury. I was amazed and somewhat dubious, but soon realised that he was right. He concentrated on straightening my posture and on keeping those shoulder muscles relaxed and unengaged. Over the next few weeks I found could work more easily on building up the muscles I needed to work my legs more efficiently. Honestly, I could barely climb a flight of stairs without hauling myself along on the handrail, and after a couple of months of exercises and dry needling I was easily walking up several flights of stairs to our fourth-floor apartment! I couldn’t believe how fine it felt to walk easily without pain. Brennan has such a kind and caring manner. He has high expectations, but he is so nice he makes you want to work hard, and experiencing the great results he achieves keeps you fully motivated. I’m now in the UK, but I’ve learned enough to keep up with what Brennan has taught me. He even spent the last two sessions showing me exercises I can move onto in future, to keep myself more agile and free of pain than anytime in the previous 6 years.
