How Long Will It Take To Reduce My Pain?
The time it takes to reduce pain can depend on a lot of factors, including the severity of the injury, the duration you’ve been experiencing pain, the number of body areas affected, your body’s motor patterns and habits, along with many other factors. Of course, your physiotherapist will do as much as they can to help speed up the healing process while also respecting the normal healing timeline of the body. Your physiotherapist will give you specific exercises to do tailored to the stage of healing of your injury. As the body begins to heal, we will increase the challenge of the exercises to continue to improve the capacity and resilience of the body area, which is often accompanied by a reduction in pain.
When the Pain Goes Away, Does This Mean I’ve Fully Recovered from My Injury?
Pain reduction is just one measurement of progress in your journey to a full recovery. In order to know the area has fully healed, we need to test the capacity of the area to ensure it is strong enough to perform your desired movements. During this phase of your recovery, we emphasize movement optimization which involves teaching your body new patterns in order to not default to previous non-optimal patterns. Your physiotherapist will also monitor that your body is progressing towards full range of motion and strength in multiple planes of motion. Typically we find that this process of building resilience continues even after the pain goes away, and it’s a crucial part of the recovery process in order to strengthen your body completely so that the original issue doesn’t return.
How Soon Can I See a Therapist?
Your well-being is our priority, and we understand the importance of timely care. At our clinic, we strive to provide prompt access to our skilled therapists. We prioritize scheduling flexibility to accommodate your needs and aim to schedule your initial appointment as soon as possible. We value the urgency of your situation and are dedicated to delivering compassionate and patient-centered care from the moment you reach out to us. We offer a range of appointment times, including before and after work hours and are conveniently located near local transit so you can easily come to the appointment during the day if you choose. Contact us today, and we’ll ensure you receive the attention and care you deserve.
Does a Previous Injury Relate to My Current Pain?

Great question!  Often the body is very good at compensating for previous injuries and so previous injuries can have a significant impact on your current discomfort. During your initial assessment, your physiotherapist will discuss your previous injury history and timeline to identify any connections between your past injuries and your present pain.

In order to determine the root cause of what’s currently going on, your physiotherapist will then complete a detailed assessment of the body including areas that are currently bothering you and areas that may have been involved in previous injuries.

The body is really good at compensating for previous injuries and sometimes old movement patterns continue to occur even after an injury has been healed. By assessing previous injuries, we aim to uncover the underlying cause of what’s driving your pain today.

How Many Times Do I Need to See a Physiotherapist?

The number of appointments you need can depend on a variety of factors including the severity of your injury, the normal healing process of the body as well as your personal goals.

At our clinic, we understand that your healing journey is unique. Our registered physiotherapist will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs, considering factors like condition severity and individual progress. We’re dedicated to guiding and supporting you towards lasting results and a pain-free life.

What’s Different About the Connect Therapy™ approach?

ConnectTherapy is an assessment framework that considers the whole body and what has led to you being here today (including past injuries). Unlike traditional approaches that typically focus and treat only the injured area, we also consider how other areas (and sometimes areas much further away) can influence how you move the injured area.

Through our assessment, we seek to understand relationships between the injured area and other areas of the body. Sometimes, treating only the local area can have a negative effect on other areas of the body (which is not good!). Sometimes, treating the injured area is exactly what is needed to recover. Sometimes, treating a remote area of the body (particularly, the thorax) can have a positive effect on the injured area. By understanding these relationships between body areas (what makes a body area better or worse) we get a complete picture of what is needed in order for you to recover fully and to address the issue entirely. This gives your physiotherapist a clear picture on what needs to happen in order for you to feel and move better.

What If I Cannot Make an Appointment?

We understand that life can be unpredictable, and sometimes circumstances arise that make it challenging to keep scheduled appointments. Your health and convenience matter to us. If you are unable to make an appointment, we kindly ask that you inform us as soon as possible and with at least 24-hours notice prior to your scheduled appointment. We appreciate you letting us know about changes early, as this allows our therapists time to be able to fill the open appointment slot with other patients on the waiting list who are in need of care. That way, we can accommodate your needs and that everyone is able to receive the care they need.

The best and fastest way to reschedule an appointment is through our online booking system.

Do You Include at Home Exercises?

Absolutely, yes! Home exercises are an important part of the recovery journey in order to teach the body new motor patterns that will support more optimal pain-free movement. These exercises are designed to address each of the movement components you’ll need to be able to carry out in order to confidently perform the sport and activities you love.

At-home exercises will be an important complement to your in-clinic treatments, empowering you to accelerate healing and achieve your desired results.

Can You Direct Bill to My Insurance?
Yes, we offer direct billing to most major insurance companies to save you time so you can focus on your health and not paperwork.
Do I Need a Referral for Physiotherapy?

In most cases, no referral is needed to visit a registered physiotherapist. However, there are a small number of extended health insurance companies that may request a doctor’s note in order for physiotherapist services to be covered. Please check with your insurance provider.

Brennan and Raj at Cadence Physiotherapy are absolutely phenomenal. I've been going to Brennan for a little over a year now, and both my shoulder and calf issues (which have plagued me for over 10 years) have drastically improved. I'm a competitive runner and unfortunately calf strains would hamper me most track and field seasons. Brennan was able to diagnose the issue and see problems/weaknesses that no other practitioner had identified. Similarly, in one session Raj was able to alleviate a long term quad issue with dry needling and exercises. As a competitive athlete or anyone dealing with chronic injuries, I would only recommend these two Physiotherapists. They're that good.

I started seeing Brennan a few months ago to help avoid running injuries as I trained for a half marathon, and our weekly sessions really helped me to build up needed strength and confidence in my running form. I've started seeing Raj weekly for clinical pilates sessions and tune up running drills with Brennan every few weeks, which is a great schedule for my goals. I'm no hardcore fast runner, but I really want to be comfortable running/biking and I have never been more comfortable and strong in my body as now. I couldn't recommend these guys more, they're very knowledgeable and friendly!

I have spent many years with quite a few injuries that have confounded many health practitioners including well over 20 physiotherapists. Raj is one of the first to really look past the surface and get to the heart of what is going on. He has been able to build a program that has helped me see improvements for the first time in many years. Incredibly knowledgeable, personal and professional while spending the time needed to really get to the bottom of how to move forward with my injuries. I would highly recommend Raj as one of the best physios I have ever worked with! Thank you Raj!

Hey runners! Brennan is the man! As a lifelong runner I'm always searching for great practitioners that are actually runners and that know how to heal running injuries. Brennan was able to fix my unfixable IT band syndrome, for which I'll be forever grateful. I love his hands-on approach - he can find problem spots right away and release them by physical manipulation so that after the first session you walk away feeling way better. But he also takes a whole-body approach to get at the root of the problem. Brennan analysed my stride and gave me cues that made a difference right away.

I cannot recommend Brennan and Cadence Physiotherapy enough. Brennan and I serendipitously connected as individuals who are both passionate about running and piano, and I am so grateful for his guidance and support while working through some running-related injuries. He has utilized many techniques and tools (dry needling, cupping, strength training, etc.) to treat symptoms of knee and quad pain, but he also works holistically to address the root causes of these issues and educate his clients along the way. In my case, this has involved providing lots of valuable insight into proper running form, understanding the entire body's role in these activities, and diligently assigning cues to promote better alignment and muscular balance. He is incredibly kind, patient, adaptable, and - of no less importance - an enjoyable person to be around. You will be very well taken care of at Cadence. Thank you, Brennan!

If you are looking for a practice that is convenient in location and a therapist who knows what he's doing, then CADENCE PHYSIO and Brennan is your guy. I highly recommend his practice. He is very knowledgeable and guaranteed that you will be at absolute best care. I came across Cadence and Brennan through google reviews. I must say, the reviews are 100% accurate. I had a chronic pain on my arm causing restraint movement during the holidays. Finding a walk in clinic was hard but Brennan took the time to open his clinic after hours to help me. And he did not disappoint. The quality of service and care was not affected even if i was the last patient. He took the time to ask and assess my situation and provided treatment/recommendations for my pain. And immediately i was able to mobilize my arm. I am now working with him for my full recovery and can't wait for my next visit. Huge THANK You Brennan!
